Skeleton of Extinct Elephant Sold for 548,000 Euros


A skeleton of an extinct elephant that lived 15,000 years ago was sold at auction for 548,000 euros in the French city of Lyon.

Standing more than three meters high, the complete skeleton was bought by a Strasbourg-based company Soprema.

Art expert Eric Mickeler said that the extinct giant from the Ice Age has two gleaming three-meter-long tusks that weigh nearly 160 kilograms, Reuters reported.

China Unveils Fastest Amphibious Assault Vehicle


International media reports said that China has developed the biggest and fastest “sea tank” in the world, and pointed out that the amphibious vehicle can travel at high speeds both on land and water.

The tank, called VN18, boasts a maximum speed on the ground, and 30 km/h on water.

British media outlets reported the China Central Television Station which revealed that the 26.5-tonne beast is equipped with a cannon, a machine gun and an anti-tank missile.

Coalition to Gradually Reopen Yemen’s Seaports, Airports


Saudi Arabia announced on Monday that the Coalition Supporting Legitimacy in Yemen would begin gradually reopening airports and seaports in Yemen, days after closing them over a Houthi ballistic attack on Riyadh.

Speaking on behalf of the Kingdom, Saudi Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Abdullah al-Mouallimi said that the Coalition would start opening the ports and airports in the liberated areas.

He said that the first step in this process will begin in 24 hours and would involve the seaports of Aden, Mocha and Mukalla.

Researchers Develop Robots that Swim with Fish


Researchers from the EPFL “Ecole Polytechnique Federale de Lausanne” have developed a new miniature robot that can swim among fish to learn how they communicate with each other and make them change direction or come together.

During the study, the small robot proved its capacities among Zebrafish, said Phys.org website.

Frank Bonnet, from the research team, said: “We created a kind of ‘secret agent’ that can infiltrate these swarms of fish.”
