Sources to Asharq Al-Awsat: Relationship of Trust between US, Lebanese Army


The US raised the level of its military assistance to Lebanon, saying on Wednesday that it was providing it with six MD 530G light attack helicopters, six Scan Eagle drones, and communication and night vision equipment.

Sources said that the visit of Commander of the US Central Command (Centcom) General Joseph Votel to Lebanon’s Army chief General Joseph Aoun on Wednesday is the third since Aoun assumed power this year.

Djibouti’s Defense Minister to Asharq Al-Awsat: We Welcome Saudi Military Base


Djibouti’s defense minister, Ali Bahdon, welcomed the presence of a Saudi military base in his country, pointing out that the relationship with Riyadh exceeded military cooperation, to reach historical, ideological and cultural ties.

He added that the military agreement between the two sides has many aspects of cooperation, including the Joint Military Commission, which meets every few months, as well as supporting and strengthening the military forces in Djibouti.

Joint Incident Assessment Team in Yemen Underlines Soundness of Coalition Strikes


The Joint Incident Assessment Team (JIAT) in Yemen refuted on Sunday allegations against the Saudi-led coalition by the United Nations Commission on Human Rights and Human Rights Watch, saying that strikes in the war-torn country adhere to international laws.

Hariri Returns to Lebanon on Wednesday to Discuss his Resignation


Resigned Lebanese Prime Minister Saad Hariri announced on Saturday that he will be present in Lebanon on Wednesday to attend the country’s Independence Day celebrations.

He made his remarks from Paris where he received a warm reception by President Emmanuel Macron.

The Lebanese official, his wife and son were treated to a lunch at the Elysee presidential palace by Macron and his wife Brigitte.

Myanmar’s Rohingya Muslims Once Again Under the Spotlight


The modern world has in recent days expressed concern over the atrocities committed by the Buddhists in Myanmar against Rohingya Muslims. The latest round of violence has forced tends of thousands to flee to safer areas on the border with Bangladesh.
