The rial has lost around 15 percent of its value on the open market in the past three days, bottoming at 128,500 to the dollar by Monday evening, according to Bonbast.com, which monitors Iran’s rates.

The dispute between star player Mohamed Salah and the Egyptian football association came back to the spotlight on Sunday after the Liverpool winger accused it of ignoring his complaints about its unauthorized use of his image.

In fluorescent orange jerseys, footballers maneuvered across the artificial turf of a pitch in the Gaza Strip — leaning on their metal crutches for support.

He used to be a goalkeeper, until he lost a leg in an Israeli air strike during the 2014 Gaza war.

Newly-elected Turkish lawmakers began taking their oaths on Saturday, with the ruling party of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan needing to rely on nationalist allies to ensure an overall majority.

Legislative polls were held simultaneously on June 24 with presidential polls, where Erdogan won a new mandate to extend his 15-year rule under a new system that gives him greater powers.

But Erdogan’s ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) was less dominant in the parliamentary elections, winning 295 seats and falling slightly short of an outright majority in the 600 MP chamber.
